PlaygroundsA playground is an area designated for children's recreation, usually outside and usually with very specific types of equipment. They can be found at schools for use during recess, at some businesses for the children of employees, in public parks, and occasionally in residential areas built by the neighborhood planner. Playground equipment can also be bought by homeowners for installation in their back yard. Although most homeowners may not have the kind of space that other playground settings offer, even one or two pieces of complete equipment can offer children endless hours of fun in a space they can call their own. Playground equipment is often modular and features slides, ladders, monkey bars, poles, swings, seesaws, etc. Sand pits are popular installations at playgrounds, and are excellent for children too small to climb on the other equipment.
