Door hardware is an inexpensive way to add unique touches to a home. Door hardware consists of door knobs, hinges, and levers. Although many people keep the manufacturer installed door hardware, by replacing mundane knobs and hinges with special hardware, a customized look is created.

The most popular door hardware is door knobs and levers. The traditional door knob is circular; however, square, oval, engraved, and egg-shaped door knobs are popular alternatives. Specialty door knobs are made from glass, iron, mosaics, and iron.

There are also options in door hinges when considering what door hardware to install. The main distinction in door hinges are the type of finish desired. Antique brass, brushed chrome, satin nickel, and oil brushed bronze are a few of the finishes usually available for door hardware.
