Door Mat

A door mat is essential to every home. Although the basic premise of every door mat is the same: each door mat stops dirt from entering the home; there are a variety of different types of door mats that serve different purposes. From an aesthetic viewpoint or a functional necessity, door mats are not all the same.

Indoor door mats tend to focus on aesthetic purposes. Although indoor doors mat will keep dirt out, it will be more decorative and colorful than other door mats. Outside door mats serve the primary function of keeping all dirt, water, snow, and sand from entering the house. Sometimes an outside door mat will have suction cups on the bottom of the mat to hold it in place, or will have rubber bristles on the top of the mat to pull the dirt off shoes.

Some outside mats even have an open-back vinyl construction designed to allow water and dirt fall through the weave of the mat to the ground in order to keep the mat from holding the water and possibly growing mildew.
