Laminating

Laminating equipment performs the function of sealing a document, photograph, poster, certificate, or fabric between two layers of plastic film. By laminating important items, they are protected from damage such as folding, bending, tearing, scratching, or marking. Maps are laminated to protect from moisture and dirt. Menus are laminated to protect from food and handling wear.

Some laminating machines use heat, while others do not require heat or electricity. The type of laminating that will be done will help determine the type of equipment to purchase.

Dry mount laminating uses a tissue adhesive applied with heat pressure for a measured amount of time. This type of laminating is best for thick paper, fabric, or wood.

Pouch laminating products are handy to seal predetermined sizes of ID badges, photographs, menus, and certificates. This type of laminating is compact and well suited for home or business use. Laminating pouches, available in a variety of sizes, are usually purchased separately.

Roll laminating allows for sealing larger items, or items of varying sizes. These products are designed for special events, office applications, and heavy commercial use. Rolls of clear coating are available in 1000-foot units for high production environments.
