Mini BlindsMini blinds have emerged as a popular alternative to their older counterpart, the more traditional Venetian blind. Mini blinds are light, airy and can soften, filter or block out light. They're also easy to use and have a decent lifespan. This explains why mini blinds account for a growing percentage of the market share each year. There are two basic types of mini blinds: vinyl and aluminum. Vinyl mini blinds are lightweight and inexpensive. They generally allow more light to pass through than aluminum mini blinds. Aluminum mini blinds are heavier and more durable than vinyl. They also provide low cost window coverage and are available in these sizes: the standard 1" mini, and the 1/2" micro. Mini blinds are also available in more than 100 colors from the top manufacturers. Mini blind slats are available in 6, 8, or 9-gauge aluminum. The higher gauge of the aluminum slat the more durable the blinds. Permanent bending and denting are lowest among the higher gauge slats. Aluminum mini blinds are easy to clean and maintain. Slat sizes are standard 1" mini and ½" micro.
